Reset Numbering

While you are creating a number list, you will want o try breaking the list and start from a new number to get it correctly. Let’s take, for instance, if you are creating a question paper with multiple headings, the first question will consist of four questions. If you now think of numbering the second section and you want it to start from five, you will have to restart the numbering.

To do that. Follow the steps below:

  • In the Google Docs page, create a numbered list by tapping on the list icon.
  • To reset the numbering, try double-clicking on the list number, then with the selected number, right-click on it.
  • There will be a pop-up window that will appear, tap on Restart numbering.
  • Type in the number from where you want to start the list.

 

You can also do that by moving your cursor to the start of the list item and right-click on it. From the menu, choose Reset numbering and set the number.

 

Reset Formatting

You can reset the text formatting in Google Docs in two different ways. The first way is by using the Clear Formatting option. The other way is the Paste without formatting option.

Using the former one will clear the font style, but it will not match it to the document style. It will not remove images and links from the text also.

The second option will remove all the pictures and links from the text and will also match it to the font used in the document body. It will remove all formatting and you will be left with simple text.

To remove all the formatting, select and copy the text, and right-click and select Paste without formatting from the menu.

To clear formatting, select the text, click on the Format option then select Clear Formatting.

Reset Printing

If you do encounter an issue while printing a page from Google Docs and you have tried changing the settings but it did not solve the problem, you can try to reset the printer settings.

Since Google Docs uses the printer settings for Chrome, you will need to rest that. To do so, follow the steps below:

  • Tap on the three-dot icon located at the top-right corner of Chrome and select Settings from the menu.
  • Then scroll down and tap on Advanced.
  • Scroll down once again and click on Restore settings to their original default settings. There will be a pop-up that will appear asking you to confirm. Tap on Reset Settings.

If you reset the settings, it will clear your startup page, search engine, and pinned tab. You will not lose important data like bookmarks, history, and other elements.

Reset Dictionary

Google Docs comes with a native dictionary which is similar to Microsoft Word where you can add new words. But sometimes there are lots of wrong words that are being added to the dictionary, if that is the case, you may want to reset the dictionary. But that is not possible, you cannot delete all the new words from the dictionary at a time. Although a word can be removed at a time.

To Reset Header and Footers

Follow these steps:

  • On the Google Docs document, tap on Format options then click Headers and Footers.
  • On the opened widows, set the header and footer margins to your need.

 

Paragraph reset styles

Google Docs enables you to reset paragraph styles. It is not necessary to clear all formatting to achieve all of that. But you are going to get a dedicated feature for it.
